About Us

The Nelson Tasman Pasifika Community Trust is the result of 20 years of community representation. We have worked with government organisations and service providers to ensure the Nelson Pasifika Community is represented, and advocated for both regionally and nationally. In all the but the last two years the Trust has been voluntary but in 2015, with significant support from some key players we became a service provider.

Our community consists of approximately 1,500 people, mostly living in and around the urban areas of Nelson and Richmond. Originally from the islands of the Pacific including Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, the Cook Islands, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, the Solomons and Hawaii. This group of people have been migrating to New Zealand, leaving their villages and large family groups, to create a better life for themselves and their families.
