Education

We are incredibly lucky in our region to have many great schools, however our education statistics for our Pasifika children on average are not so great.

Data shows our youth leave school at a younger age than other students with lower achievement in both NCEA and vocational pathways. Reading, writing and mathematics are all areas with low achievement, particularly for our boys.

Our strategy for Education is simple – we come at it from two angles.

At the strategy level we work closely with the schools, Kahui Ako and Ministry of Education to support their cultural and engagement strategies with Pasifika families.

At the family level, we work closely with our community to support the understanding of individual education outcomes and the best way for families to engage and work with schools to support their children, walking alongside them.
