Nelson City Councilor Matty Anderson Pasifika Liaison Officer

On Thursday 16th November. The Honorable Mayor Dr Nick Smith hosted members of the Pasifika Community for Talanoa at Council Chambers. The purpose was to create relationships and an opportunity for Nelson City Council to listen to the concerns and hopes of our community. The event was attended a dozen of our community leadership. We were split into three groups and the topic of discussion (roughly) was, ‘What can Nelson City Council do for our Pasifika Community’. Council staff were very grateful for the time and knowledge that was shared. This information will be organized and shared to those that attended and then shared with our community. This is just the first step towards what we hope to better a more productive relationship between the Nelson City Council and our Pasifika Community.
